WHAT CAUSES TURKEY NECK?

As you age, you may suffer from sagging, crepey skin (AKA turkey neck) on your neck and/or décolleté. This will give away your age, regardless of how youthful your face may be. WHAT IS PRP?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy is gaining in popularity as “the blood injection of miracle.” PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines which may elicit gathering of stem cells around the damaged region stimulating cellular proliferation and tissue regeneration. Since the patient uses his or her own blood for the collection of platelets, there is minimal or no risk of infection or other side effects and no allergy. Blood is drawn in an exam room in the presence of the patient.

RECCOMMENDED NON-SURGICAL TREATMENTS FOR NECK REJUVENATION

1. PRP Microneedling Procedure

Microneedles are very fine needles that, when applied to the neck, create tiny openings in the skin. This stimulates the body to rebuild collagen. This treatment is appropriate for wrinkles and sagging skin as well as for scars, acne, and sunspots. Number of treatments may very depending on damage and sagging of skin. More than one session may be needed to obtain the desired results.

The combination or dual modality of using the Dermal Roller/Dermal Pen delivery application with PRP has been shown to increase per-cutaneous absorption of the PRP medium. This controlled “injury” to the skin harnesses the body’s own healing response to rejuvenate and repair the skin through the proven science of collagen stimulation known as collagen induction therapy.

2. PRP Injections

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), when injected and activated, release adhesive glycoproteins and various growth factors which help to mediate new cell proliferation. PRP has been used in facial and neck rejuvenation for several years. The treatment is ideal for individuals looking for subtle but noticeable improvement in skin texture, tone and color with minimal or no downtime.

Patient with very saggy skin may not be ideal candidate. You may need to have 2 or more treatments, at least 4-6 weeks apart and depending on the type of centrifuge you opt for or your physician uses. At Glory Wellness Center & Weight Loss Clinic, we have both single and dual spin centrifuges, our dual spin centrifuge is state of the art. However, we will determine your treatment protocol, according to your needs. Treatment results vary, and for most patients, the results last up to 18 months.

3. Botox

As you already know, Botox relaxes muscles. The superficial neck muscles contractions, known as Platysma bands, create unwanted vertical neck lines. This can be treated with botox to relax the muscles and botox can also treat the horizontal creases, often referred to as “necklace lines”.

The position and thickness of the platysma bands can determine how and when different individuals will show signs of aging. Properly administered Botox injections can relax this area and soften prominent neck bands. The best results are seen in patients who are at a healthy weight.

4. Topical Serums, Sunscreen and Retina A

Good sunscreen will minimize future skin damage. The way your neck ages is about 20 percent genetics… and 80 percent skin care habits. Leave no exposed skin unprotected!

Retina A stimulates collagen, and thereby effective in rejuvenating the skin on your neck.

There are some serums and moisturizers that can help generate new collagen and elastin. This will restore some of the neck’s elasticity. Topical vitamin C has been shown to boost collagen production. Formation of new elastin is also very important for your skin.

5. Weight Control
